About
Hi, I'm Tiny
TinyServerSetup is a small, independent site about running your own hardware at home: local AI on mini PCs and used graphics cards, home servers, NAS builds, self-hosting, and building or upgrading your own PC. It's for people who'd rather run their own services than rent someone else's.
Every guide tries to answer one question honestly: what's actually worth buying, and what can you do with it?
Who writes it
I do. Tiny is my pen name. I'm a home lab tinkerer, and this is what I run right now:
- A Mac mini home server running Fedora Asahi Remix, with apps in Podman containers
- An i7 mini PC, also running Podman
- A Raspberry Pi 4 with Pi-hole and a media server
- An Ollama AI server at home that I reach through a Cloudflare Tunnel
- A multi-GPU local AI rig, still in progress
I write up what I learn as I go, mistakes included, because that's the guide I wanted when I started.
How I make recommendations
Picks are based on published specs and long-term reliability reports from owners, plus my own experience where I've run the hardware myself. When I haven't tested something, I say so. No manufacturer pays for placement, and nothing is sponsored. The full method is on how I pick.
How this site makes money
Some product links are affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. If you buy through one, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Every page with affiliate links says so at the top, and the Knowledge Base has none.
